About

This blog is not going to solve all of your problems, nor mine, for that matter. But that is not what it is here to do.

I created this space as somewhere to wonder out loud about life and about the quest to finding peace (disclaimer: still looking).
Writing for me is something that has always been therapeutic. I wrote our Santa letters every year without fail (asking after Mrs. Claus first and foremost, of course), I chronicled crush after hopeless crush throughout my awkward adolescence, I scrapbooked my travels to Asia (yes, I’m that chick), and I journal as often as I can so as not to carry too much baggage between the ears.
As a child, I dreamed of being a writer one day, and while it hasn’t exactly gone the way 9-year-old Aoife had originally intended, I sure hope this blog will come close to reigniting that unadulterated joy I felt at filling copybook after copybook with characters’ crazy, stupid adventures, illustrations and all.
As well as a passion for the written word, I also bring to the table my career thus far as a primary teacher, my musings as an habitue of therapy, my undergrad psychology degree coupled with a huge interest in social psychology and motivation, and my experiences in life to date, be it as a daughter, a sister, a friend, an educator, or a simple human being.
I am committed to being totally transparent about not having the key or the answer to everything. My experience is just that - MY experience, and what I have found has worked for me in my day-to-day. It is my hope that something I pen would cause at least one person to stop and think, or to help them in some small way as they navigate this insane world.
Hard as it will be, I will try not to get overly personal or compromise anyone’s identity in this space. After all, these blog posts will be more about humans as a species rather than individuals per se. While any interactions I discuss may have been with specific persons, in some way or another they have contributed to how I understand human beings and the workings of the mind, and that is why I include them.
As for the story behind the blog name: over the course of lockdown and post-COVID existence, the word ‘peace’ has become really significant to me. Having my routine completely interrupted, the fears of the virus gnawing at my psyche, being unable to travel, to socialise as we know it, or to dance to the usual rhythms of life meant that my mind and my immediate space became my home. For me, using my time to cultivate an atmosphere of peace in both these places ended up being my main goal. Cue lots of meditation, walks, reading, journaling and other forms of self-care. The pun on the proverbial ‘peas in a pod’ is also an attempt on my part to flip the idea of co-dependence on its head. I think one’s relationship to oneself is the one into which we should put the most work, since it dictates all our other relationships. Enjoying your own company is huge, and it is something I have come to cherish over the last 18 months or so.

This blog is intended as an invitation for you to sit with me as I muse, and, at best, to propel you towards some soul-searching yourself.
